Tamagusuku Ryu Senjukai Frances Nakachi Ryubu Dojo (Senju kai Hawaii), was established in 1997 by Frances Nakachi Kuba Sensei to perpetuate and preserve Okinawan music, dance and cultural heritage in Hawaii and internationally.
Born and raised in Okinawa, Frances Nakachi Kuba Sensei began her Ryukyuan dance training at the age of three under the tutelage of Yoshiko Tanita Sensei and Mieko Kinjo Sensei, co-directors of Senju Kai Okinawa. Learn more about Frances Sensei's story.

Our Classes

Senju Kai Hawaii offers classes for students all ages and skill levels, from children to seniors, basic to advanced to certified, trained dancers. In our classes, students will learn Okinawan dance movements, postures and techniques, and Okinawan and Japanese language and etiquette. All are welcome! View our class catalog to learn more.

Cultural Fusion 2020

Tamagusuku Ryu Senju Kai Hawaii presents Cultural Fusion 2020 - A virtual event!

Celebrate the Holidays with us virtually on December 4th, 2020!

This year’s virtual Cultural Fusion will be live online via YouTube on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Our event can be watched online at The proceeds from the event will help the school fund recitals, purchase costumes and provide scholarships for students who are interested in furthering their skills by taking the certification test in Okinawa.

This year's event will feature pre-order food and drinks for you to enjoy at home while enjoying Cultural Fusion online. We are excited to feature the following wonderful local vendors: Pagoda Floating Restaurant & Catering, Lotus Spirits, Aloha Andagi, & Mud Hen Water Restaurant. In addition to supporting these local vendors, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Hawaii United Okinawa Association (HUOA).

We will feature performances and special interviews with our Senjukai members that you won't want to miss!
