The proceeds from the event will help the school fund recitals, purchase costumes and provide scholarships for students who are interested in furthering their skills by taking the certification test in Okinawa.
Cultural Fusion 2017 Event Details:

- Cost: $60/person $70 at the door

Creative director Frances Nakachi Kuba Sensei knows that this milestone event is made possible by many individuals from within the community working harmoniously together. It is her precious gift to all of you who make up the extended ‘ohana of Tamagusuku Ryu Senju Kai Frances Nakachi Ryubu Dojo. So come and enjoy a heartfelt gift filled with vibrant colored kimonos, the nostalgic music of the sanshin, and stories told by dancers ranging from keiki to kupuna. The playful youth, the peaceful warriors, and the wise elders are eager to share their stories of joy and gratitude, through dance, with you.
This production will also feature Certified National Intangible Cultural Assets in Japan, Grandmaster Yoshiko Tanita, and Grandmaster Mieko Kinjo and Kaishu Miyoshi Higa from Okinawa.
This cultural performance will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2016 from 3:00 pm at the Hawaii Okinawa Center on 94-587 Ukee St, Waipahu, HI 96797. (Map & Directions)
General seating tickets are $35. VIP tickets are $150 which include special Kariyushi Kariyushi book based on stories of Art and Culture, reserved parking, reserved seating and a cocktail reception after the show. There are only 100 VIP seats available and will need to call to reserve. The VIP tickets will not be sold online. Door opens at 2:30p.m.

It crossed the sea along with the Uchinanchu who traveled to the world, Okinawa traditional arts that have been handed down in many parts of the world. At present, it becomes a bridge between home and Okinawa Prefecture, the world and you have a valid Okinawa.
In this performance, performer’s Okinawa performing arts who are active all over the world, performing arts organizations et al bring together, Okinawan music has been nurtured in each country, to show off the dance, also a number of rare technique that remains in a foreign land we introduce.

Hanagurumu, (timeless elegance and sophistication) is a spectacular Ryukyuan Fashion Show with music and dance. Hanagurumu, a unique and much anticipated production of cultural exchange, is presented by Chinen Toshiko Ryuso Bunka Gakuin. This show is the first of its kind to be shown outside of Japan, and will focus on the beauty of Okinawan costumes, textiles and weaving. It will also feature music by National Living Treasures of Japan Choichi Terukina and Kishun Nishie, and dance by Certified National Intangible Cultural Assets in Japan Setsuko Tamagusuku, Yoshiko Tanita, and Mieko Kinjo from Okinawa. National Living Treasure of America, NEA Fellow Lynne Yoshiko Nakasone will be involved, as well as local performers from Hooge Ryu Hana Nuuzi no Kai Nakasone Dance Academy and Tamagusuku Ryu Senjukai Frances Nakachi Ryubu Dojo.
General seating tickets are $45. VIP tickets are $100 for reserved seating and a cocktail reception before the show. Ticket prices include a $3.00 restoration fee to the Hawaii Theatre. There are only 84 VIP seats available so please purchase them early!
